Inspiration: Exploring the opportunities for early cancer diagnosis in primary care
Organisation: London Cancer, UCLPartners
Macmillan have funded a full time Practice Nurse position together with London Cancer, UCLPartners to explore any opportunities for early cancer diagnosis in primary care.
Despite the introduction of urgent referral pathways and increased access to imaging in Primary Care, cancer mortality remains poor compared with other European countries. My role will be to build cancer awareness in the Primary Care setting.
My post is funded for a year. Took up post 26/01/15. As I am new to the project I am still obtaining information and familiarising myself with the best way forward to engage with practices in the North Central, North East and Outer London areas to support screening and develop Early Diagnosis change.
New role for London Cancer- their objective to improve Early Diagnosis and thus improve health outcomes.
